Coeden Aled - Welsh Second Language Resources
Coeden Aled is a Welsh second language programme for Years 3 and 4. This learning programme focuses on enjoyment and achievement, and encourages a curiosity about the Welsh language.
This evidence-based programme (teaching and learning through stories) combines creativity with basic skills, and the children's own drawings are an integral part of the programme. The four strands of language (speaking, listening, writing and reading) are taught as one unit, and the children's written work, including spelling and complex punctuation, develops simultaneously with oracy and reading.
The use of the Coeden Aled approach simplifies teaching and learning and therefore improves the children's understanding and memory skills, resulting in their confident participation and application of the skills learnt.
The two-year learning programme includes:
- 2 Teacher's Handbooks
- 1 set of 7 picture books
- 7 Sally Spelling Snail card templates
- 6 sets of structured story books for group reading
- 7 posters of story characters
- 7 soft toy characters plus Sally Spelling Snail
Total Cost: £279 (+ £6.95 p&p within the UK)
An evaluation pack, consisting of 1 Teacher's Handbook plus 1 set of structured story books costs £49 plus £1.95 p&p within the UK.
